Under 13 Hurling Championship

Latton 7-8 .v. Monaghan Harps 1-4

A game of two halves with Latton dominant in the first half getting all their scores and the Harps taking control in the second half to dominate the game. Latton's numbers 7 and 6 both played exhibition hurling showing the good work that has been put into the team mentors Jamie Black and Gabriel McQuillan over the last few years.

Dean Mulligan, younger brother of senior hurler Luke, had a busy net to keep in the first half. Some fine saves however gave the harps inspiration to turn the performance around in the second half. From the restart Robert Uskan (1-1) anchored a harps defence with hard-hitting tackles and long clearances. Daire McKenna and Jack McMahon helped to build from the half-back line with Odhran Kelly and Daniel Alexis (0-1) the engine room in midfield. Odhran's hard-hitting showing he'll follow closely in his father's footsteps. Mark McCaffrey (0-1) and Luke Swift in attack interchanging handpasses and running off each other to great effect. Brothers Conor and Joseph O’Neill had a huge part to play in the turning of the match as Conor tidied up loose ends in defence supporting half-back Daire McKenna and Conor at the end of many of the harps attacks with Cillian McKenna tirelessly chasing down every through ball. The game also saw the debut of Enda Sherlock and Thomas Murray, congratulations to both men for pulling on the green jersey for the first time.
